"Halton cannot be bettered, so why..."

About: The Cheshire & Merseyside NHS Treatment Centre

What I liked

The fact that every aspect of this facility is kept so clean that one could safely eat food off the floor. No request was too much trouble, and the nurses really were there for your benefit. (Unlike some Hospitals where nurses look upon patients as being a nuisance.)

What could be improved

My only complaint could be with regard to washroom sinks. The ones for use by my ward (6)

had no waste stopper. This could be a sensible way of preventing flooding from taps left on.

The only complaint is that they don't have mixer taps whereby one could set a contolled flow of water at the required temperature. The single taps were either too hot - or too cold and it was difficult to do everything with one hand whilst needing to stabilise ones self with the other.

Anything else?

There is a feeling of disappointment amongst all the staff because they have been informed

(either officially - or unofficially) that the building is to be mothballed at the end of May 2011.

One can sense that all are dedicated to giving 100% patient care. During the first 5 years since it opened this Hospital has gained a reputation throughout the county for being the most consistant in keeping MRSA (and other unwanted forms of desease) at bay, being a top priority. The situation is far from ideal and to close-down this operation is an injustice for which those responsible should hand their heads in shame.
