The ambulance was called to my house in the early hours of Thursdsy morning of the 15 February after suffering a heart attack. It arrived after one hour where there is suppose to be a 15 minute blue light time.
After arriving at A&E not a lot happened. After a time I was in extreme pain again (probably a second heart attack) and they gave me morphene to reduce the pain. Thereafter not a lot happened as far as examinations were concerned. Soon afterwards I was put on a wheel chair and was told I would probably not be admitted. Then they took away my wheel chair and put on a hard plastic chair. Eventually I was told that the blood test showed a traumatised heart which pointed towards a heart attack. I was left until 19:00 after 14 hours in A&E and put in Cambridge Ward. The angiogram showed a 99% blockage so I was extremely lucky.
The care in A&E for a priority heart attack is an absolute disgrace and I am only thankful that I am in a position to express my views.
I would beg that the hospital put in some robust controls in A&E so dispite the pressures they are under, they work efficiently, with care and priority of need. Please would you investigate for the benefit of future patients.
