"Very Grateful"

About: Quayside Medical Practice

I would personally like to give my thanks to one particular GP for the excellent treatment I have received for the past 10 years.Although the waiting time is often over run it is worth it in the end. He really cares about his patients and gives you ample time to discuss your medical problems.

Being HIV+ now for over 20 years, I suffer from many comorbidities that the early meds and HIV itself caused. His knowledge and understanding of this condition and all my other conditions means I get my 10 minutes worth. He and all my other consultants deserve a round of thanks for the care they give.

The nurses are the best and always look forward to seeing any of them. Give these great people a long overdue pay rise in my opinion!

The ladies on reception are always friendly and witty and do their job extremely well. They are the frontline for everyone who enters the surgery and handle it quickly and efficiently with a smile when most of us are in some sort of pain. That always cheers me for the sometimes longer than expected wait that sometimes happens.

My biggest complaint would be trying to book a same day appointment at 08.30 on the dot and always getting engaged. I have had to resort to using both my mobile and landline to redial up to 40-50 times in order to join that infamous queue of, 'there are 8 calls ahead of you in the queue'. At least we are not tortured with endless loops of Greensleeves.

My only complaint would be the street access is scary. Coming into the left bend one never knows who might be barrelling down Chapel Street as all the parked cars limit visibility a lot. Maybe some improved road signage warning about access to this street is not 2 way. Thankfully there is the layby where most people give way in front of the other surgery. One of those convex street mirrors so one can see who if any, other cars are approaching would be fantastic.

Thanks for this detailed and amusing review. We agree road access is poor, but we are lucky to offer 6 free parking spots, and we would encourage those who can do so to walk or use public transport. For those who need help with transport, CTLA will help with lifts to the surgery in their accessible vehicle.
