What I liked
Apparently the food is good...
What could be improved
Communication between ward staff, doctors and patients
Anything else?
My Brother in law is 91 years old, totally disabled, and in a barrier nursed ward. He needs help with such basic items as positioning a urine bottle, as he has severe gout in his hands.. Consequently he spills it as no nurses respond to his call within 30 mins of pressing the button. Then he sits in a pool of urine, with a wet gown, for whatever period, in one case over 3 hours. Then just before Easter, he was told the hospital had run out of urine bottles. Then when he wet his gown for the second time in a few hours, he was told there were no clean gowns in the hospital and he had had two clean ones already. Cutbacks???
He wanted to go to bed at 7.30pm, and was told that there was no-one capable of operating a hoist available and that someone would come. He rang me an hour later, and I phoned the ward, and a nurse responded... why the one hour wait?
On occasions the urine pools have been mopped up and the cloths used have been placed in his wash basin. He is in a barrier nursed ward, and the staff do not wear covers over their shoes, so they tread urine soaked dirt out into the main ward. The hospital has a message on their telephone saying they have the vomiting virus, and please observe the barrier cleansing routines. Why dont they? I could fill several pages of the bad nursing care that he is receiving, but this will probably be moderated off the board
I would not recommend anyone to go to this hospital
"Very bad nursing, and total lack of..."
