""Pain relieving angels""

What I liked

Attended Bham Dental Hospital on 19/4/11 out of sheer desperation as unable to get appointment with my own dentist. Had tried calling my own dentist every day for a week with no luck. and pain was becoming unbearable.Had root canal at my own dentist in jan 2011 at cost of approx £200, now the opposite tooth kicked off. Not good. A mates sister whose a dentist advised if pain unbearable and unable to get appt with own dentist, try dental hospital worse case scenario-as they would do anything immediete required to ease the pain and any further treatment may need to be carried out by your own dentist if you have one.

Arrived 11am , told to return at 130pm and was give a ticket. I kept myself busy in town as much as i could till then. Returned and waited till 330pm til i was seen. I have no issues with the delay as i was expecting this, at they end of the day they were doing me a favour and not the other way round.

I was seen by a junior dentist who then discussed it with a senior dentist. My worst fear was another root canal coming my way. I then was sent for an xray-which was pretty quick and then to see the senior Dentist who seemed to be the chap in charge. With his wealth of experience he told me its unlikely to be need a root canal and the problems was fairly superficial surrounding my gum. I was more than happy to hear this. I then had another junior dentist then do something to the gum to make it all better.

After all this they kindly said if i was to have any problems and i couldnt get in with my own dentist to return to them

Overall spent a long time there but i knew this in advance ,so not a problem. The 3 dentists were wonderful at every stage, and there was no charge at the end. Just goes to show, if we didnt have the NHS hospitals, this would have easily cost me alot more. So ppl lets give the NHS a break

A big thumbs up to all the staff at "Primary Care" at Birmingham Dental Hospital. They really put my mind at rest

What could be improved

All was acceptable

Anything else?

Better than my own dentist
