I attended the Liverpool clinic in December 2017. It is something I never thought that I would need to do. Living in Ireland, abortion is still illegal so it was somewhat difficult to obtain information, etc. It was a very lonely time, despite the support of a few close friends. I had some problems with arranging the particulars of the procedure over the phone but I don't want to focus on that in this review. I want this to be about the clinic and the staff.
I was relatively OK for the duration of the day; luckily, I had my best friend with me. Her presence was immeasurably helpful but aside from her, I have to say that the staff at the clinic were second to none. I can remember their faces, particularly the surgical staff, as if it was yesterday. Their kindness is even now, almost 3 months later, reducing me to tears. They were all so understanding and encouraging and non-judgmental; I felt 100% supported throughout the day.
I opted for a procedure with just local anaesthetic, which in retrospect I deeply regret, because I found the procedure itself traumatic. I had a vasovagal reaction afterwards which was very frightening but the staff were very attentive and even consulted the surgeon, which I found reassuring.
Whilst I wish the whole thing had never happened and have recently started to struggle with coming to terms with it, one thing that will never leave me is the people that I met that day. I am not religious but they were absolute angels and they will never know how much their kindness meant to me that day, and will continue to mean for the rest of my life. I would strongly recommend the clinic to anyone without hesitation. I simply cannot praise the staff enough. Thank you all so so much, it meant the absolute world.
"Beautiful people, forever grateful."
