"Discriminatory appointment system"

About: Leeds Student Medical Practice

One of the doctors gave our year group a talk about elective health, acting like LSMP cares about medical student wellbeing.

You don't, because your appointment system is awful.

We are not allowed time off for same day appointments unless it is an emergency. We have to complete stupid leave request forms in advance for medical appointments. How am I supposed to get my asthma review done?

The doctor said book an appointment in 3 months!

The receptionists say I can't book an appointment at anytime in the next three weeks(unless I want a Saturday one). Or I can turn up on the day

The medical school is saying we can't self certify for routine on the day appointments!

* I am an orthodox jew, and all non emergency medical treatment is forbidden on Saturdays, and if I had an appointment on Sunday, all the pharmacies are shut.

Is it fair to offer booked appointments at a time that means certain faiths can't use this system?

A Sunday appointment, requires time off uni to collect a prescription

I have been in hospital 3 times this winter with asthma exacerbation's, because I can't get an appointment!

Please talk to the medical school about your new appointment system. And the doctors need to know saying "book an appointment in 3 months" is not going to work. Or receptionists need to stop living on a power trip, and just let us have appointments!
