"Getting through anorexia with help of Camhs and riverdale"

About: Centenary Community CAMHS Riverdale Grange Clinic

(as a service user),

Two years ago anorexia took over my life, it started beginning of secondary where my eating pattern was completely messed up, I was referred to Camhs after being really unwell and they was worried about me, Riverdale helped me loads they made me realise that life is better than an eating disorder, they did activity’s that helped with distraction, distraction is a big thing. When you feel guilty or want to do exercise or any urges- distract distract distract honestly it helps.

Camhs helped me too, I went weekly which helped as I always had them to talk to, impatient is awful but I wouldn’t be where I am now without them, it helps having a support worker who spends time with you with games or just crafty things which was good for me, people worry and impatient but honestly they have doctors there and various people your in safe hands.

I wanted to get better and that is what you all need to know, you can have every help going but you need to want recovery, you need to want to get better, it is so hard I’m not going to lie, somedays you will want to give up but if you do you get stuck in anorexia’s ways and it’s the worst, think of all the achievements you want to do, anorexia or any eating disorder infact keeps you from doing what you want to do, it destroys lives so you need to fight no matter how hard it gets I promise it’s worth it, getting over anorexia and being stronger than it is the best thing I have ever done I never look back now.
