"A&E"

About: Northampton General Hospital (Acute) / Accident and emergency

I accompanied my daughter aged 17 to A&E following a massive overdose. Once we reached the triage nurse we were swiftly treated but time was of the essence here and we sat in the waiting area to be triarged whilst 3 nurses sat chatting at the desk in front of us. It was 8.30am and not busy. No one else was sat waiting. Additionally my daughter was seriously vomiting the entire time we were in the dept. Once treatment was started she was immediately sat in a wheelchair and parked in front of the nurses station. There was no privacy or dignity as she vomited in front of everyone for over 3 hours there. She felt wretched and just wanted to lie down but no she was left sitting in the wheelchair. Not good. Sad experience.
