"Absolute perfection, even with a parking..."

About: Basildon University Hospital

What I liked

Staff address you by your first name, it is ore friendly and puts you at ease.

Doctors open doors and greet you, and they don't sit behind a desk,

much more friendly!

All the staff wear very pleasant and helpful.

The hospital unlike some I could local hospitals I could name, was very clean indeed, staff looked like real nurses and didn't stand around chatting.

Everything was explained in a way that I could understand.

I was treated with utmost respect and the quality of care was second to none.

What could be improved

Parking ... it took so long to find a parking space I nearly missed my appointment.

There is so much building stuff outside taking up much needed parking spaces, it is time it was cleared!

Anything else?

Having heard lots of bad things about this hospital, I risked transferring my care from Southend which I found in a filthy state with medical records sitting in an open cupboard free for anyone to help themselves. Having seen southend Hospital I really had to question why anyone complained about cleanliness at Basildon. Visit both hospitals and make your own choice!

I had no concerns at Basildon and was treated as I expected to be treated, in a clean safe environment. I did notice that lots of improvements have been made in clinic areas, and I am so glad I transferred my care.

Basildon hospital ... blood test waiting time was ten minutes ... Southend hospital 90 minutes with extremely stroppy management should you dare to complain.

Chest x ray, Basildon ... hand you card in and have your x ray, Southend, phone up to make an appointment,, fit in with their times, then call when your date is due!

Environment ... Basildon very clean indeed, Southend it beggars belief! Floors are dirty, patients towels are used to mop up spillage, they have no blankets for beds and pillow for patients! Floors were so filthy you could write your name in the grime and they have to discover the meaning of keeping patients records confidential.

I can only speak as I fins and can support my claims!

Thank you Basildon Hospital staff for restoring some of my confidence in the NHS, you all deserve a pat on the back!
