The other day I asked to speak to the reception mgr As I was extremely ill with breathing problems having already been taken by ambulance the week prior & put on a nebuliser.
I could not believe what happened. The first receptionist had already booked a phone appointment for me with a doctor for that day. I explained my situation of having severe breathing attacks which had led me to calling 111 on several evenings and even 999 on one occasion. I was being treated for asthma but the drugs & inhalers were doing nothing. It was critical. It always gets worse at night. The reception manager actually said to me, “well you sound fine to me. I can hear you breathing perfectly as you rant down the phone” I was shocked. Firstly, she is not medically trained & knows nothing about the seriousness of my attacks. She then proceeded to take my appointment away from me with the doctor because she said it wasn’t urgent & that he only had urgent appointments left.
