About: Macclesfield District General Hospital

What I liked

I arrived the day beofre xmas eve at around 9pm finding it hard to breathe and in considerable pain. I was seen within the target time and staff relieved my pain as soon as they could, being rather busy. I was treated and sent on my way within the 4 hours beng told the issue was muscular and to take Ibuprofen every 4 hours. They did a chest xray to be on the safe side also.

What could be improved

The doctor I saw follwoing the Xray was a tad patronising as if I should not have been there as in his view I was not an accident or and emergancy (but when you are in pain and finding it hard to breathe at that time of night what else do you think to do?) so Staff attitudes could have been better.

There definately needs to be a radiologist on site at night. t was found that the issue was I had a consolidation on my lung (severe infection causing flid on the lung). I only found out about this 2 1/2 months later by my GP. When I challenged what had happened she said a doctor would have missed it and only a radiologist would have picked up on it. Luckily I recovered as I am generally fit and well (but what if I wasn't?)
