After many years of struggling to seek help, I walked in this morning to request an assessment for my Alcohol Addiction. It was scary and I didn't know what at all to expect. The staff member on reception was very reassuring and kept me informed of how long I might be likely to wait to be seen today and made me feel very at ease. People came in and out for various appointments or sessions and everyone was treated with respect and dignity. The waiting area was clean and comfortable and free tea and coffee available. After only 30 minutes I was seen by a lovely woman who was very friendly and open, again making me feel very at ease and able to open up and be honest about my addiction. She was not at all judgemental and was just very supportive and also very thorough in obtaining all of the facts needed to help me move forward when I start working with my key worker. I was given an overwhelming amount of information about the support and services available to me and I feel very reassured that I will be well supported with my recovery. I know it is not going to be an easy journey at all personally. Any addiction is so debilitating. I left feeling positive and confident that with the help of this team I can finally start to get my life, my self esteem and my confidence back. I recommend anyone who is struggling to come in and talk to one of the team.
