We spent a total of 14 hours in the PDU unit on Saturday with our son who suffered a mental health crisis and he was referred from Heartlands Hospital to the Oleaster for assessment/treatment.
Our son (and us) was treated with the highest respect, dignity, sympathy and understanding from all members of staff for the full duration of our time there and I cannot praise or thank them enough.
They helped to make a very difficult situation so much better.
They explained in detail what was going to happen and when and although he had to wait a long time to see the doctor, we were constantly updated from members of the nursing staff.
We were provided with tea/coffe/squash/fruit that we could help ourselves to at any time and a regular supply of sandwiches for which we were very grateful for.
The unit was clean / spotless with very relaxing chairs and a television to watch.
There was a small courtyard leading from the waiting room where we could go and get some fresh aire if we wanted.
Once seen by the doctor, our son was given a few days supply of medication and it was explained that the crisis team would visit him at home, which they have done twice already and they are putting into place a care plan with gp appointment and further medication.
I CANNOT THANK EVERYONE ENOUGH for the wonderful care you provided to our son and we will be forever grateful.
I highly recommend this unit to everyone.
THANK YOU x
"Fantastic place, cannot praise it enough"
