"Staff at hairmyres and wishaw CCU"

About: University Hospital Hairmyres / Cardiac Catherterisation University Hospital Wishaw / Cardiology (Ward 4)

(as the patient),

A few weeks ago suffered a life threatening heart attack and rushed to the hairmyres CCU for an immediate surgical op to clear a blocked artery and have two stents in placed.   Nothing other in my Med history other than wisdom teeth out. ! ! And I'm nearly 59 yrs old.

I felt very scared but also incredibly reassured of what was happening, told off for not keeping my arm still etc. But wow what an amazing procedure and utter professionalism of all the staff in my short but enlightening two day experience. Even the lady who cleaned and fed me etc. Advice and counselling from both sets of staff at the hospitals, You all do an amazing job and myself and family and friends thank you so much for another chance really. I hope you all win the lotto!

Dear Tomasa

Thank you for taking the time to post on the care opinion website.

Being in hospital for any reason can leave people feeling vulnerable and scared and I am delighted to hear that you experienced such high standards of care and treatment during this time from our team. The staff will be thrilled to learn about your comments and this will continue to motivate and encourage them to strive to achieve this level of professionalism when looking after all patients.

I hope you are recovering well and are enjoying as you put it having ‘another chance’ this can be a life changing experience and I am honoured that our team has joined you with part of your journey.

Best wishes

Kirsty

Kirsty... Thanks. It's all good these positive responses to what's happened to us patients and medical staff... As you see it daily as we hopefully experience it once and enjoy a good life there after. But my question to all of you medical and hospital workers is... What is the number one thing about patients in extreme care, you feel, lets you down the most?? I'm gonna find out and hopefully do something about that for you all.

Again.,. You do an absolutely amazing job and personal commitment. I hope you all have a happy outside work life to compensate.

Regards guys.
