"Had an appointment for heart echo"

About: University Hospital Hairmyres / Cardiac Catherterisation

(as the patient),

I think it's terrible  the nhs gets a bad name sure we need and deserve funding from  the government  if they only knew how hard the staff work  and are not appreciated enough, I have been a patient many times, I joke I have shares in the nhs.

I have had nothing but good things to say  about the staff  their dedication and care. It is wonderful.

They put you at ease, as they know your worried about the outcome, but take time to explain everything. What I like is they put you at ease by telling you their name and explain they are there all the time you are in hospital, and as an outpatient.

I find the same care and ease was given when I went with my husband for a heart echo. I was allowed to go in with him as he was so worried about the procedure  but he didn't have to worry  as the nurse put him at ease and assured him and I mentioned I was coming up for an echo and she checked the computer and my name  was there so she examined me as well by giving me an echo as well. I am 75 years old  and it saved me weeks of waiting and worry. I can't thank  her enough she certainly went above and beyond  I have nothing but admiration for all nhs staff  they are so kind  and they  really  do care your health is so precious and you know you are in  very good hands with nhs staff.

I have nothing but good things to say about my experiences as both outpatient and an inpatient in the wards.  Thanks again from a very happy  patient

Dear Reid

Thank you for posting on the care opinion website and for the kind words you have written. We value all feedback as it helps to motivate and encourage our staff and lets them know if they are ‘getting it right’ when working with patients. The fact that you use our service many times and have said you find the dedication and care you have received has been ‘wonderful’ is very inspiring and I will certainly feed this back to our staff.

I will let the Cardiology department know how much you and your husband valued the care and treatment you both received when he was getting his ECHO, I know they will be delighted.

Wishing you and your husband all the best

Kind Regards

Kirsty
