"my experience at basildon hospital"

About: Basildon University Hospital / Cardiology East Of England Ambulance Service NHS Trust Orsett Hospital / Vascular surgery Southend Hospital / Cardiology

(as the patient),

Had an appointment because i visited the toilet 4 times a night and had test. The scanner showed i had a 7.5 aneurysm so they delayed treatment at the oncology so i could have a AAA surgery which was done very quickly for my safety.

I did die but they got me going again (THANKS). I was back playing golf within 2 weeks never felt better.

Just before xmas i had a heart attck and collapsed in the street. The ambulance was there in 9 minutes and i was told my heart stopped on the way to the hospital (Basildon). I was up on my feet in about 2 days, back playing golf in 2 weeks.

I am now in rehab twice a week and the staff are brilliant and i have joined their club called hearts and mind which is run by the same nurses in rehab.

I have since been told i have cancer of the prostate but because of all the problems i have had the treatment has been put on hold because the drugs i take interfere with the treatment.

But they have assured me they will keep a good eye on me and i trust them and they will treat the cancer as soon as possible.

I always believed when you got to a certain age and what i read in the newspapers that hospitals lose interest in your care. I'm 75 years of age and that couldn't be further from the truth. My treatment has been the best you could get and the staff are the best at Basildon hospital.

Now going to one of my 5 great grandchildren's birthday party - that would not have been possible without all the loving I have received and will still receive from people who care.
