"my son's care"

About: Royal Berkshire Hospital / Accident and emergency

my son was admitted as an emergency and diagnosed with viral gastroenteritis which was at an acute stage.

although he spent the first night in A&E due to no beds elsewhere, he had thorough tests and good compassionate care there.

when eventually transferred to a ward, he continued to have very thorough careful care, with every avenue explored as to the cause and likely need for ongoing treatment.

the parking is appalling, and it's quite difficult to find one's way around the hospital.

however the clinical care and general nursing were beyond reproach.

and there are plenty of little shops and cafes for family/inpatients additional needs.

the short time I spent waiting in A&E waiting room it was distressing to note the way the general public treated the space - plenty of refuse bins, generally unused.

litter everywhere.

Many thanks for your positive review of the A&E Department – it is heartening to read that the compassionate care, which we strive to deliver, was given. We are acutely aware of the problems associated with the car parking and the frustration and negative impact this has on those driving to our site. The demand for parking within the limited confines of the hospital site regularly exceeds the current car parking capacity. There are plans in place to free up space by reconfiguring our existing car parks to provide further spaces for patients and the visitors. Your feedback has been shared with the clinical team and the managers in the Estates Department who oversee parking and signage.
