Attended a pre-booked appointment for my son at urgent care centre following a call to 111 at the weekend. After about 10 seconds the health care professional who assessed my 7 year old son decided it was just a sore throat and sent me away with instructions to continue with paracetamol and ibruprofen. She disagreed with me that he had white pus filled spots on his tonsils and required antibiotics. I was made to feel like an over-reacting mother whose concerns were quickly dismissed. The following day my sons condition had worsened. Following a visit to our GP surgery he was diagnosed with scarlet fever and prescribed antibiotics. My sons recovery has been prolonged by not receiving the appropriate treatment at the earliest opportunity. I am a great supporter of our NHS and will not let the actions of one individual affect my overall opinion, however this experience has been extremely disappointing.
"Poor experience"
