Our child finally got an appointment here after the phone was finally answered, yes like many had experienced- was very frustrating, however as hard as it was to get our child there it is a very inviting friendly atmosphere and we was relieved to finally be off the very long waitlist.
The reception staff was very friendly and helpful.
The waiting area is mixed with all ages which my child found very hard being the older 12 year old there- he was distressed and upset and his dad had to to take him back out to sit in the car, while I waited alone for my child's turn which I then text my husband to come back in- I did ask for some sort of side room to wait in but nothing available. It would have been most useful.
We was not in as long as I expected, I was disappointed with the time we got , and let down by the fact the notes given from over 6 years from professionals and teachers was looked over in 30 mins during a break, wile my child played lego - the outcome was, unknown and very unsure even without the sensory test given and they were sending us to Cahms to do sensory issues test however the strongly recommend myself and husband attended the ASD parents workshop they did over 2 weeks as they thought our child showed signs of ASD through the anxiety.
So we did attend them and we related to so much that was discussed that was the last time we was at ryegate.
we went to Cahms and they basically questioned infront of us why ryegate had sent us to them and that it was probably so they could do all the sensory tests so Ryegate didnt have too. charming i thought!!
FYI we have now been taken off this list at Cahms as they could not help us which is now effecting our child's home schooling in his GCSE time with his reader provided. I feel nothing but let down by these two places Ryegate being priority.
