I've been admitted twice in the last month and am very impressed with and grateful to all the people who have helped me. I was helped by ENT staff, who are all amazing. After an initial operation which unluckily triggered significant bleeding, I was re-admitted through A and E to be met by doctors who showed devotion to sorting my bleeding and treated me with respect. During a serious bleed overnight, one particular junior ENT doctor managed to stem bleeding and save my life, despite my strong language during the ordeal! All of my surgeons were reassuring and clearly knowledgeable.
I could not have asked more from the nurses. Although busy, they are kind and approachable.
However, during my stay I have observed first hand how the hospital is understaffed in terms of doctors. They were clearly having to constantly prioritise people based on their conditions. They do a great job of this but deserve more backup and support to deal with A and E admittances. We need to gratefully accept qualified doctors from other countries rather than warding them off, as our government recently has for this hospital. This reflects the system rather than the competence of the staff and is clearly the same with all NHS hospitals.
"ENT, day surgery and M5 ward staff are great"
