Having suffered from depression for most of my life, the highs and lows are to be expected I suppose. One very important thing I always try to maintain is awareness of my condition, so when I hit a really bad low I was aware enough that I was not coping and sought professional advice/help.
My GP referred me to Health in Mind and after an initial telephone consultation it was agreed to follow a 'self help' course via telephone sessions of 30 minutes every fortnight.
My PWP proved to be most helpful and together we worked at resolving or improving my situation.
The outcome has been extremely positive and I feel so much better and suitably equipped to cope with my condition.
I do realise that living with this condition is a constant work in progress but knowing that there is help out there is so very reassuring.
I would have no problem at all recommending the service to friends or family.
