To start I just want to give credit to the dr who operated on me and also the anaethatist but my experience on g5 is not good at all. On arrival of my planned admission (after it been cancelled the first time) there were no beds I had to wait in the waiting room. I was asked for a water sample and given a tray..I was left out in the corridor with the tray in my hand full of urine at the main desk while one nurse went to get another to take it from me.(highly embarrassing) . I was took to another room with trolley beds and told my wife couldn't come in there as it was just for patients but I could sit back in waiting room with her in my theatre gown to await my operation. I was also under the impression i had to have MRSA swabs for an admission which never happened. After my op the staff seemed very disinterested in after care. I got paracetamol at approx 9pm I asked for some at 6am but I wasn't wrote up for them yet at 8am I was allowed them? I have lots of medication which was all in my notes and when I asked for night time meds I wasn't written up for those or my morning meds...luckily I had taken my own medication not that anyone asked or took them and locked them away. I was given a worse for ware sandwich at around 9pm which was not edible in the slightest bare in mind i hadnt eaten since the previous evening due to my pending op..granted I gathered there was a bed shortage but I felt they wanted to ship you out as soon as possible but to be honest I couldn't wait to get out. I feel the level of care and compassion compared to the main hospital is lacking somewhat and wouldn't recommend this ward to anyone.
"Unorganized unprofessional"
