"Unsatisfactory discharge of 81 year old heart..."

About: Liverpool Heart and Chest Hospital NHS Trust HQ / Cardiology

My mother in law was flown from The IOM to Liverpool on the evening of Tuesday 13 Feb having been in hospital on the IOM since Thursday 8th Feb. She had tests then heart surgery on Thursday was then booked to fly back escorted to IOM on Friday. Having her first flight cancelled to to someone else being booked in her place she caught the 2000 flight to IOM, having to get herself from the hospital into a taxi, into departures, onto the flight then dismbark into arrivals where she really struggled until some kind soul got her a wheelchair and saw her to the taxi rank where she got a taxi home!!!! Where was the care and attention that she was told she would get. Thankfully she made it home. Surely the hospital had a duty of care to ensure that an elderly patient one day after heart surgery is not just thrown out and left to her own devises to get to an airport, check in, board then disembark into arrivals then find your own way to a taxi!!! As thankful as we are for the surgery, shame on you for the way she was left after discharge!!!
