"Visit to breast clinic"

About: Queen Elizabeth I I Hospital / Breast surgery

On 26th February I had an appointment at the QE2 breast clinic. It was busy when I arrived, and I went directly to the receptionist. Unfortunately there had been some confusion with my appointment and it had been cancelled without my knowledge and rescheduled for a few days later. As we all know the agonising two week wait is hard enough, but to be told your appointment has been cancelled was devastating. (It was not the QE2 fault, I think a mis-communication with my GP) I was very upset and a wonderful nurse took me through to a private area to compose myself. In the meantime another nurse spoke to the consultant and they decided to squeeze me in. I'm so thankful to the staff, at my most vulnerable they showed such compassion, exactly what was needed. The consultant was really aplogetic and had such a comforting manner as did all the staff. Fantastic service, it's so easy to blame the NHS, but the two week turnaround from referral is fantastic, and we should appreciate this. All examinations are done on the same day, and I got my results the same day.

Thanks for your feedback, which we have just shared with the breast care unit team for you - we were so pleased to see that they sorted out the appointment problem on the day - a great example of putting patients first...
