"Waiting for appointment"

About: Queen Margaret Hospital / Gynaecology

(as the patient),

A few months ago, I mistakenly went to the Victoria Hospital for a gynae appointment when I should have gone to Q. M. I had not read the letter carefully enough for which I accept full responsibility. It was an honest mistake.   A staff member at the former phoned Q. M. to try and persuade them to take me later but the request was not granted. Instead, Q. M. staff said that a new appointment would be sent to me. Stupidly I waited and waited for this to happen but it did not and last week I phoned to be told that my name had been removed from that day's list! I was therefore never going to be sent another appointment. Is it accepted practice  that an employee can arbitrarily take a patient's name off in such a way?   If so, it seems to me dangerous  as the potential patient could have a serious condition not hitherto discovered. Last week, I was told that a secretary would telephone me about the situation but I am still waiting! I really feel let down.

Dear Ariadne

I am sorry to read that this has happened and that no-one has been in touch with you yet to arrange another appointment. This must be frustrating and concerning for you.

I would be grateful if you would contact me directly on 01592 643355 ext 28144 to allow me to look into this for you.

Many thanks

Gill

Dear Ariadne

It was lovely to speak with you today and hopefully we have now managed to rearrange your appointment for you.

Like you, I was disappointed that your appointment had not been rearranged appropriately at the time and again I am sorry for the upset and frustration that this has caused you.

I will share your post with the relevant teams now to allow them to reflect and learn from your experience.

You have my direct number, so please get in touch if you need to in the future.

Kind regards

Gill
