Having recently had an ankle operation here I have to say I am extremely disappointed with the level of compassion I received from the nurses on the ward.I am a nervous patient and tried to explain this but was made to feel like I was making a fuss. After my operation I was seen by various nursing staff as I was in so much pain. They didn't seem to believe how much pain I was in. There was a lack of communication and I was basically left in a room with no idea about what was happening.
I wasn't even offered any food. Having been there since 7.30am and only discharged at 6pm I would've thought I would be offered something. Different nurses were telling me different things. One nurse said I was staying the night another said it was my choice.
But I only found this information out after I asked what was happening as I'd been left in a room for two hours with no communication. The theatre staff on the other hand were fantastic. The nurse who was with me in recovery could do with teaching the nurses on the ward how to be compassionate and to treat patients as humans rather than an inconvenience. I wish I'd got her name as she was lovely and a credit to the profession.
