I accompanied my daughter to the children’s A&E on 14th February with my granddaughter. My daughter could not get her into her GP and had contacted 111 3 times, the last time they did not even call her back! My granddaughter has been poorly for a week and kept turning blue, due to having a terrible cold, she had high temperature and kept shaking, she really was poorly. We didn’t want to waste time at A&E but felt she needed to be checked out properly.
When we arrived the receptionist on the front desk was quite abrupt however, going into the children’s A&E we were greeted much better. We didn’t wait long to be seen by the triage nurses, who were excellent with trying to get vitals off of a 1 year old.
It wasn’t long before we were called through. The Consultant had a fabulous bedside manner and made us feel comfortable when we said she was much better at that moment in time. She explained everything and understood what we were saying. The play assistant brought plenty of toys and provided a buggy for her to nap in.
We left feeling content with how they all treated our granddaughter, who is now slowly getting better with the medication they prescribed.
Thank you to the dedicated staff that do treat the patients with the respect and dignity they should receive, it really does make a difference to a visit.
