Four years ago I was a real nuisance to the Endoscopy team. I fainted when they mentioned a needle and, afterwards, I had to walk about for more than two hours to get rid of the air they use during the examination. The staff were wonderful. Every one of them kept an eye on my progress throughout. I wrote then saying how pleased I was.
Well on Wednesday 14th Feb 2018 they did it again. The question 'do you ever faint with needles' led to me admitting I had fainted last time, so the nurse said she'd do it once I was lying down.
After an hour sitting quietly, I was taken to the Endoscopy Room where the needle was put in (OK, so I still didn't look). 'We'll let that take effect' were the last words I heard before waking up in the Recovery Room.
Within 20 minutes I was on my feet with no embarrassing wind episodes. I was told my results and when they would repeat the procedure.
Nurses asked if I was OK, rang my neighbour to pick me up, and the whole event I had been worried about for weeks was over as if it was a matter of routine.
I cannot thank the Endoscopy team enough. They are still as kind, professional, and caring as they were four years ago. Well done.
