In February I was admitted to The Alexandra Hospital in Redditch following 4 days of awful abdominal pains and two visits to GP out of hours and a paramedics call out via 111.
My local hospital, The Worcester Royal Infirmary was experiencing a severe shortage of beds, and, I was informed, ambulances were being diverted. I was admitted via a very busy A&E and eventually designated a bed in Ward 18.
I was informed I needed emergency surgery to remove my infected gallbladder which if left can prove fatal.
I’m writing to praise all of the staff I encountered during my stay, even the cleaners and catering staff. Not one of that ward’s staff carried out anything less than excellent standards of work and each and every one of them did so with sincerity, a smile and absolute kindness as well as total efficiency.
I felt very well looked after, assured and in good hands the whole time. I was kept informed of procedures and felt safe and secure the whole time.
I would most like to praise one nurse in particular who is one of the best I’ve encountered in my numerous stays in hospital. She seemed extremely dedicated and knowledgable yet was a breath of fresh air with her ease of kindness, friendliness and ability to engage with patients. She is Esther B and I think is Senior Staff Nurse. Esther I salute you and you have definitely chosen your vocation xx
