What could be improved

I would agree with the previous comments on the Neurology dept, You get the feeling that the drs would prefer not to have to deal with patients. The quality of communication is extremely poor. The attitude towards you is 'army-like' in that it is purely functional and is low on empathy and obvious kindness. The lack of response to letters and calls is distressing when already suffering with a neurological medical condition.

Small things would go a long way in this department. EG not calling the next patient before you are out the door or still sitting down, having a conversation about why you are in clinic and what the consultation will consist of or outcome, a conversation about prognosis or lack of understanding by the doctors if that is the case, rather than a confusing examination with no questions answered. A reassurance that there are tests and experienced drs to support you in despairing times. A small suggestion of a plan to resolve the patients situation, even if it is wait and see with a times scale. A use of language that the average layperson can understand. Letters summarising the outcome which emcompass a personality and willingness to engage on the doctors behalf. It is almost like the drs are so unconfident about diagnosing you or supporting patients that they shut them off from engaging with them. A bit of kind honesty and empathy engagement would go a long way here.
