"Excellent experience, fantastic staff"

What I liked

my dad was admitted through A&E after a fall, and found to need a pacemaker fitted. This was done the following day. His care throughout was excellent. The staff seemed very busy but nothing was too much trouble for them. When we asked for my elderly father to have specific help with drinking etc, that was instantly forthcoming. The staff also care for visitors very well. When I arrived, unsure which ward my father was on, someone immediately went to find out for me, and while I was waiting two other staff also asked if I needed any help... I was very grateful for the offer, as hospitals are confusing especially when you are a bit traumatised by your relative's sudden illness.

Sincere thanks to all the staff in the cardiac unit. Our experience at Southampton General Hospital was really excellent. Let's hope the government's "reforms" don't undo all the good work by hospital staff on the ground...
