We would like commend the way our 89 year old parent was looked after when we brought him in with breathing difficulties recently. Four members of the A&E team were triaging patients so within 10 minutes of arriving he was in a cubicle, seen by a junior doctor, had a drip and nebuliser and was undergoing tests. He was seen by a more senior doctor within 40 minutes. We were very quickly given a diagnosis and told he would be admitted. He was admitted into the waiting ward, offered food and settled down. He moved onto ward 23 the following day and received equally good care there.
He is lucky as, although ill, he knew what was going on at all times.
We could see the teams were very busy, especially difficult for them dealing with less cognitively able patients.
Thank you
"Speedy & appropriate treatment"
