Unfortunately, I had 3 recent occasions to visit the A&E dept. All staff I met were very pleasant, friendly, efficient and accommodating, but there were a couple that I wanted to especially thank. I hope this is correct forum to achieve that. My first visit was 21st Aug last year, when my mother was admitted and sadly diagnosed with an aggressive brain tumour. The lady consultant that afternoon who was tasked with giving Mum the news, was very good. She was very courteous of mums needs and respected that she was the primary person to communicate with, first asking her permission if myself and my niece could stay, and then addressing her directly with kindness. On the next occasion, Mum was admitted to an A&E Ward after a fall. Again, all was dealt with in an admirable fashion and all staff supportive, taking the time to discuss with her intermediate care for intensive physio, and arranging that. On the last occasion (Sunday 7th Jan) I was the patient, having slipped on the ice and broken my wrist. Although again everyone I met was lovely, i especially wanted to thank the young man who pulled the bones back into place and plastered my arm. I’ve since seen 3 orthopaedic consultants in London, and they’ve all, without prompting, commented on what a good job he did. So, whilst I hope I won’t be back there in the future, I can’t fault the care given via A&E to myself and family over the past year.
