"Staff went beyond expectation"

About: Pilgrim Hospital / Ophthalmology

(as the patient),

I am terrified of hospitals and subject to panic attacks whilst in one. I came in for a routine cataract operation; a small/routine op for the hospital, a massive, big, terrifying experience for me.

Your staff in day case was absolutely brilliant. I couldn't have wished for better care. The Consultant Anaesthetist I only know as Edward was fantastic at putting me at ease and was very reassuring and calming which I badly needed at the time. He along with his assistant Haley continued to take there time and reassure me in the anaesthetic room prior to surgery and protected me when when the surgeons came in and I started to panic.

I can not thank them enough. A theatre Nurse I think was Nikki was equally fantastic. She knew I was struggling but stayed with me before and after the op. Although my experience was terrifying your staff went beyond expectation to reassure and comfort throughout.

I hope some reads this and if possible thank the people involved or at least give them feedback from a very scared patient.

Many thanks.

Dear Neo,

Thank you for taking time to feedback on your recent admission. I am pleased we were able to reassure you and make your experience a positive one.

I will share your lovely comments with the teams involved in your care.
