"Excellent start then down hill"

About: Grantham & District Hospital / Accident and emergency Lincoln County Hospital / Accident and emergency

(as the patient),

After speaking to 111 I was advised to go to A&E ASAP (quicker than an ambulance) as I had a potential stroke, on attending A&E the quality was excellent speed people etc treatment very speedy, but after a CT scan the doctor told me he would speak to Lincoln stroke unit and arrange an ambulance, this was at approxamatly 15:30 but I was then left to sit on a trolly with no update until I went looking for a nurse or doctor at 18:30 for some kind of expectations I twas then told the results of my scan and that an ambulance had been requested on a 1 Hr basis but this would now be updated to a 15 min request, the ambulance Elite contractor) arrived at pax 19:45 I was then taken to Lincoln arriving at 21:00 as number 6 in the trolly corridor, the ambulance tech then went looking for the stroke triage nurse, who had no knowledge of my coming from Grantham, I was then at 22:00 released from the ambulance responsibility and put in chair in "Majors" cubicle no 12 at some point I was then assed by the stoke triage and an initial diagnosis of "Bells Palsy" at 12;30 the other 3 people in chairs in this cubicle were offered tea and a sandwich I could have neither as a doctor had not assed me, at 02:30 this time I was allowed a sandwich and coffee and at 04:00 I was assessed by the doctor, Bells Paysey confirmed given some bills and discharged at 04:10 and told to go to my GP for more pills in the morning, I then telephoned for my wife to come and fetch me, at 05:30 I was on my way home with no discharge letter and hoping to see the GP in the morning?

So excellent to start and then of down hill, no information, no drink, no food for 15 Hrs and then released with no notice and no information for the GP, when the GP saw me they were unable to gain any information about me from Lincoln but I do have pills with their pharmacy details so I had been seen and it was not a nightmare????

United Lincolnshire, I feel you should close Grantham, invest some money into Lincoln, more better trained staff for A&E at Lincoln.  Whilst it looked like I could be a stroke patient it was all hurry but as soon as a doubt appeared it became a just forget me.

Thank you for your feedback. We hope that you are now feeling better.

I can only apologise for the long wait for the ambulance and the lack of communication around the waiting time.

We try to keep waiting times to a minimum and keep the patients updated on the plans for their treatment. Unfortunately we seem to have failed you this time.

Thank you again for taking the time to post feedback
