"Kidney stone treatment"

About: Royal Hallamshire Hospital / Urology

In llate autumn 2017 I saw Urology Consultant having been diagnosed with kidney stones. Discussed treatment options from do nothing and review in 6 months to laser treatment, with the latter option being selected. Very quickly had surgery pre-assessment appointment where I was allowed to give unsuitable dates (I was going to be abroad ) so delayed slightly my treatment.

In mid January attended day theatre unit which was run on a very efficient and caring manner by the staff.

Found it very useful, as this was first time I have had a general anaesthetic that at all times I was kept fully informed what was about to happen and when.

Follow up 3 weeks later for stent removal.

As note I tried to go private for this condition but could not get this option in Sheffield or the area. I am pleased that I went with NHS as the speed, standard and caring nature of the treatment I received was world class.
