About: Addenbrooke's Hospital

What I liked

Nothing!

What could be improved

Communication between Oncology and ENT

Better standard of Dieticians

Communication between staff and patients

Communication between hospital and GP

Waiting area - always full of patients and their relatives, no seats and no fresh air

Waiting times - usually I have to wait for 11/2 hours to be seen.

Anything else?

Have had cancer treatment for tonsil cancer and now being checked by ENT.

Before my treatment my oncologist told me i will have problems with my thyroid gland as radiotherapy will destroy areas affected by cancer as well as surrounding areas - including my thyroid.

Due to this I expected the doctors in ENT would know this but no, I had to put my foot down to have a blood test as they didn't know anything about what damage my treatment could have done.

Also, I always have to tell them to spray local anasthetic up my nose before they put a camera up, but they don't wait for it to take effect. It has caused bleeding and mild pain.

I also see the dietician in this department and I must say I have never met anyone lacking knowledge as this person. They told me to increase my fat intake to increase my muscle tissues. What!? The only thing it will do is to increase my chance of heart problems and obesity as I'm already overweight.

i have tried to talk to the staff concerned but they can't be bothered to listen.

I am considering changing hospital as i am exhausted dealing with the staff's behaviour and attitude

We were very concerned to read of your issues and would welcome the opportunity to discuss this with you and investigate properly - neither of which is possible without knowing who you are. We would certainly not want you to feel so upset that you are considering transferring your care elsewhere. Please do get in touch with our PALS Department on (01223) 216756 or via email pals@addenbrookes.nhs.uk
