I took my mum to the A&E department as she had a CT scan appointment. When I arrived I was told to stand at desk 1-2 . There was only 1 receptionist so I showed the appointment letter to the receptionist at desk 3 who told me to stay in line for desk 1-2.
After 15 minutes when the lady became free she told me to queue at desk 3-5 so I joined a new queue. When the receptionist with the worst attitude called me over she told me I was in the wrong queue and I was meant to check in at the X-ray reception. This was not on the letter and 2 receptionists had already looked and studied the letter. I’m sure these ladies are under pressure but I waited 25 minutes and my mum could of missed her appointment. I don’t expect to be asked how my day is going but I do expect them to do the job they are paid to do and to direct me to the correct department without having an attitude. Training clearly needs to be given as this only generates more work for the NHS.
Thankfully the ladies at the CT reception were lovely and treated my mum with care and attention.
