"Consultant no clue what was going on"

About: Pinderfields General Hospital / Trauma and orthopaedics

I visited the fracture clinic after having been referred by my GP, I showed up early for my appointment, 1st problem I could not sign in due to the fact that my appointment couldn’t be found, even though I had the letter with the date and time written in black and white, I did manage to get this sorted and managed to get to the fracture clinic and see the consultant, however upon seeing the consultant I quickly realised that we were not on the same page. I had been referred though my GP but for some reason he though I had been referred through a and e, then I was told by the nurse that is what my notes said and she showed me the documentation she was holding referring to my case, dated Jan 2017, yes 2017, they did not have my referral letter from my GP or seem to know that I have had previous X-rays. I then had to tell them from the beginning what had happened and how I came to be in their department only to be berated by the consultant as to the fact that it was not his speciality, he couldn’t understand why I had been sent to him, he looked at my foot but didn’t examine me at all, then told me that what the radiographer had apparently seen on my X-ray and was the reason I was going to see the specialist in the first place, it couldn’t possibly be and that it’s either nerve damage or it’s all in my head. I am hugely disappointed and upset in the way I have been treat as not only do I feel I was being treated like an idiot but also that I have been in chronic pain for 6 months+ and I was hoping to come away with at the very least an idea as to what is wrong with my foot and if not a solution. Being in this amount of pain for this amount of time, struggling along day to day is not only physically exhausting but mentally too.
