My partner of 33 years was admitted to City Road Hospital on the 20th of January 2018 suffering with Pnuemonia, the levels of care she received from admittance I can only describe as very good. She had never been to CRH before and as we live in Sutton Coldfield I was a little worried having heard not to flattering remarks about CRH, she has COPD and Dementure on top of the pnuemonia she was admitted with, the staff in ward D16 were quite marvellous and special thanks to the consultant who was a real diamond and an asset to the NHS a lovely warm kind lady with undoubted medical prowess ( Thank you ). The only down side were one or two of the “ Bank Nurses “ who I felt were on “ Auto Pilot “ and lacked the bedside manner and empathy of the full time ward staff a necesssary evil but essential to keep wards running but definitely a minus in my books ?? Thank you so much to everyone who helped look after us, the health care assistants do a wonderful job under difficult circumstances and are drastically under valued and under paid ! When will we wake up and realise that these men and woman on the whole do a superb job that not as a lot of people think anyone can do as the drop out rate statistics prove ! Many thanks To you all, and especially the consultant, Barry.
