"Care following chest pain"

About: University Hospital Ayr / Cardiology

(as the patient),

On a holiday on Arran I had chest pains, irregular pulse and claminess, symptoms I couldn't ignore. I was admitted promptly ino the War Memorial hospital, Lamlash who confirmed I had had a heart attack through the change in blood troponin level over 12 hours. I was transferred by helicopter to the coronary care unit, Station 5 where my condition was stabilized and investigations and observations were conducted. I received medical care from Dr J. Reid and nursing care from the team led by Sister Gail and advice on my rehabilitation from the cardiac team (Michele, Laura, Lindsay). I was discharged as at low risk of a further MI event a few days later and await my appointment for a myocardiogram. Throughout, I was treated expertly, with skill and consideration in every aspect of care from the morning cup of tea to drug administration and blood sampling. The ward was very efficiently run. I thank all the members of the medical, nursing, physiotherapy and support teams for their skill, patience and kindness.

I respond initially to most of the posts and ensure they are passed to the appropriate team whether they are compliments, observations or grumbles. It is important to make sure all issues are addressed and I try to encourage that to happen for all the posts as required.

Dear Janes Dad,

It is a pleasure to see how well it all dovetailed in to provide such wonderful all round care and is a real testament to so many staff and different teams. I am sorry you had to have a heart attack, but if you have to have one, this is the way you would want to be treated. Thank you so much for taking time to share this post, I know the teams will be delighted with such lovely feedback.

I trust you are recovering well now,

Best wishes

Eunice
