"My Orthopedic Surgery Experience. Brilliant."

Having had major discomfort in my left shoulder due to a damaged ligament for quite some time, I was referred to the Orthopedic department at Lincoln County Hospital by my GP to see a specialist. The nursing staff welcomed me into the dept and I was introduced to my consultant who I have to say was absolutely brilliant, he listened intently to my problems and understood immediately what was causing the issue, he explained to me what was causing the problem and explained what could be done about it. All other options by this time had been explored and the consultant offered a surgical procedure to rectify the pain in my shoulder. At all times during the consultation period I felt completely relaxed and at ease, thanks to the complete professionalism of my consultant. Several weeks later I was offered a surgical appointment at Louth Hospital to undergo full rotator cuff repair. Again the staff at Louth were fantastic The same consultant that examined me at Lincoln came to me to explain exactly what the operation would entail, he willingly answered my questions and understood my concerns which he addressed immediately. The procedure all went according to plan and following recovery the consultant came to see me again to see how I was feeling, he further explained to me in detail how the operation had gone. Brilliant. I was later discharged the same day wearing a sling. Post operation, I experienced only mild discomfort in my shoulder for a couple of days which is to be expected but everything was just fine.

Today I returned to Lincoln County to have the stitches removed and another visit from the consultant who examined my shoulder and discussed my rehabilitation in some detail with me. NHS staff are all truely amazing people who are under extreme pressure on a daily basis, my experience with all of them through every step of the process has been absolutely tip top. In particular to my consultant/surgeon what a true professional he is, a real gentleman whom I have the upmost respect for. You were amazing, all of you. Keep up your great efforts as I can assure you, you are very much appreciated. Thank you.
