I was admitted to QVH after two previous operations for cancer in the mouth. I had the cancer removed, my right jaw removed and replaced with a bone from my leg. I also had muscle from my leg to replace my gum and part of my neck. It was a long and very complex operation.
The surgeons did a fabulous job. After a few short months I am able to eat normally, talk clearly and walk well. The care on the wards and the after care are a model for the whole NHS. The nurses are attentive and caring, the Care Assistants are readily available and active in helping. Speech and language support was really helpful and professional. The follow-up in outpatients is prompt ( never waited longer than ten minutes) and really multi-disciplined with speech and language, dressing changes and surgeon review all happening together with no waiting between each one - first class team and first class service
