I had to go to A&E for a mental health emergency at around 9pm one day, only to be seen at 2am the next day. Despite all this, I was still sent home (rather than being referred to a Psychiatric team or psychologist) even though my my heart rate was very high. The doctor told me I "should know more about this depression thing" because I have studied psychology and that I should just "be happy". I was unhappy about this treatment and now feel it is not a place to go if you have a mental health issue, they don't believe you.
