My 100 yr old Mum has had a fantastic experience here following admission with suspected stroke ( turned out to be a TIA). Drs and nurses in both A and E and the Stroke unit couldn’t have been more pleasant or professional , despite the really busy and pressured environment .
The lovely stroke consultant in the Stroke unit took considerable time with me to carefully talk through the issues and options .
Similarly the nursing, Physio and Speech and Language staff , who all went out of their way to overcome mum’s considerable hearing difficulties and help her recover .
The para medics both bringing her in and taking her back home are also worth mentioning - really professional , kind and considerate , trying extra hard to minimise mum’s time out in the dreadful weather .
My son lives in the USA , where , providing you pay up and aren’t one of the 22 million there without health care ( yes , 22 million ) the tendency is to over - medicate on everything. He really misses the NHS .
I wish more people here would appreciate how lucky they are to have it , and try and moderate this endless complaining .
Thank you PRU .
