About: Southampton General Hospital / General medicine

i recently spent 24 hours within this unit, for severe dehydration after viral gastro-enteritis. this was a GP admission and i was whisked through to the ward and put into a single en suite room.

i was feeling dreadful and this was a blissful oasis. All the staff from doctors to ward cleaners, were wonderful, happy and uplifting. i was treated to the highest standards and i was a nurse myself, so this was very welcome.

All used gloves and sanitiser.

Despite being unable to eat much, they were totally accommodating to my taste.

the only thing i could be negative about is that being diabetic, i asked for diabetic yoghurt, which i was assured was for diabetics, but was so high in sugar, i could not eat it.

Having had to use the hospital on far too many occasions, the standards are exceptional and dont deserve the negative media reports.

my very grateful thanks to all who were involved in treating me

Thank you for providing feedback about your experience and I hope you are recovering well. Your comments have been passed to the matron for the area to share with the wider team, I will also ensure that your comments regarding the diabetic food is fed back to staff.

Many thanks
