I visited Hairmyers accident and emergency department with a dog bite. I had been up on the Monday night to be seen initially and was advised that if it became infected to come straight back up and have it looked at. I felt it getting rather yucky on the following Sunday and took a jaunt to the hospital. I was seen rather quickly as it was more of a follow up rather than a full diagnosis required. My Nurse for the evening was David and I couldn't have been in better hands. The Doctor had a look at my hand and assured me that the itchiness etc. I was feeling was natural and that my hand was not infected, she was actually rather happy to have seen me and mentioned how clean the wound was, remarking on it is better to be safe and have it seen to. I never caught her name sadly. David then came to see me and irrigated the wound to be sure and dressed it again. Advised me on how to keep taking care of it and kept me at ease throughout. It may seem silly but the chat about irrelevant things helped to keep my mind off the unpleasant task of cleaning out my wound. It was a little uncomfortable to say the least. I can not fault his bedside manner and admire the cheer that the team had despite working in such a hard environment.
