"I feel completely abandoned"

About: DHU Healthcare CIC / NHS 111 East Midlands Ambulance Service NHS Trust / Emergency ambulance Lincoln County Hospital / Accident and emergency Lincoln County Hospital / Cardiology

(as the patient),

I’m in my early 60s and back in December suffered chest pains at my home

We dialled 111 who organised a priority ambulance. It took 6.5 hours to arrive. On arrival at lincoln A&E I was told I’d suffered a heart attack. I then had to sit in a corner on a chair for 10 hours before being given a bed on a medical ward. Discharged 2 days later after having stent fitted. In early January I suffered more pains and shortness of breath and called ambulance. This time told even though I was priority there was no ambulance available

Controller advised give him aspirin and find out where your nearest defibrillator is located in case he goes into cardiac arrest!

We drove to hospital. Discharged 2 days later and had to wait 5 weeks for cardio rehab appointment. I feel completely abandoned

Hello Auctionerrjim,

Thank you for sharing your experience on Care Opinion. We are sorry to hear that you had a delayed response for an ambulance and that you feel that we did not categorise your call correctly.

We would like to look into this further for you and see if there are any lessons for us to learn. Could you please email details of the call, including the time, date and address the ambulance was called to, to our Patient Advice and Liaison Service (PALS)- http://www.emas.nhs.uk/your-service/patient-experience/.

We wish you well in your recovery.

Dear Auctioneerjim,

Having read your comments regarding your experience with both EMAS and at Lincoln County Hospital, I believe you contacted the NHS 111 Service provided by DHU 111 (East Midlands) CIC, a division of DHU Health Care CIC and a priority ambulance was organised.

I do hope you are feeling much better. However, if you have concerns regarding this contact, please email me at DHUL.ClinicalGovernance@nhs.net.

Thank you,

Good evening Auctioneerjim

I previously provided an e-mail address for you to contact me so that we could discuss your concerns with your contact with our service. However, I haven't received anything to date.

I think it would be good to have contact either via e-mail or telephone to enable me to understand your concerns in more depth and to enable me to explain how the various systems and services work, for example the NHS 111 service, the Ambulance Service and the Hospital.

I can be contacted by telephone on 0300 1000 409.

Again I hope you are now fully recovered.

With Kind Regards

Judith Brown

Patient Experience Manager (DHU)
