Went to a&e after phoning 111 with suspected Stevens-Johnson syndrome. No one in a&e knew what it was and didn’t even look at the rash I was having. They simply did my vitals and told me to go to a gp despite the condition not actually affecting the vitals at first and the potential for it to get much worse. They didn’t look at the medication I was given that is a likely cause of what I am experiencing and they didn’t look to try and find something to temporarily numb the burning sensation of my skin. I wasn’t expecting a cure to what I was having but at least someone to actually look at some of the reaction in my mouth, genital region, eyes and lips and nose; instead of just doing my blood pressure then sending me home. Was really happy with the friendliness and support of the nurses however the actual examination from a doctor was only about 1 minute long and it was just a look at one of the many ulcers in my mouth, they didn’t ask if there was a rash anywhere else which made me think they didn’t have proper information on the condition. And they didn’t look at any of the rashes that were already there. I am now having to go to a walk in centre this evening as there were no appointments with the gp today and my symptoms have gotten worse.
